Card J-5 - NT465 October 30, 2008
I started working on adding the jumbo sized postcards to my collection. These cards were produced in a 6" x 9" format and the bulk of the cards were also available in the standard size. Every now and then, Disney would throw-in a card that was only available in jumbo. (Like this card to the left).
Card PDL 12 - NT508 July 18, 2008
Still working at adding more Hallmark PDL postcards to my collection, and in a stroke of luck I've added three new ones this week. Here we have a great close-up from Storybook Land in Fantasyland. I believe this is the only postcard that shows the attraction up close.
Card PDL 8 - NT504 July 18, 2008
Next up we have a nice shot of the Rafts to Tom Sawyer Island as it crosses the Rivers of America . In the background we get a nice view of now defunct Cascade Peak and Harpers Mill before Fantasmic construction super-sized this area.
Card PDL 27 - NT523 July 18, 2008
And finally, your basic shot of the Columbia cruising along the Rivers of America as it passes Cascade Peak.
Card D-204J - NT126 July 9, 2008
Picked up a great jumbo card (9" x 6") of Town Square on Main Street. In the right hand frame of the card you'll notice no Matterhorn and a construction sign for the never-opened International Street. I believe this is the only jumbo card that was not replicated in the standard size.
Card 00000-52027 - NT2060 July 9, 2008
Your basic shot of the Fab 5 which looks surprisingly similar to this card.
Card 00100-21920 - NT1764 April 18, 2008
Here's an unusual card. I believe this is the first time that Disney put the year on the front of a card. And, what makes it even more unusual is that there are no 92-98 cards. Disney wouldn't start the yearly series until 1999.
Card PDL 28 - NT524 February 1, 2008
I'm still working on adding to my collection of Hallmark PDL cards. Here we have a nice overhead shot of the Submarine Voyage making it way around the lagoon. The PDL cards were published between 1960 and 1962 which would make this a photo of an almost brand new attraction. I'm not quite sure which color scheme I liked better: the military grey or bright yellow exploration.
No Number - NT580 February 1, 2008
Another series I'm still slowly piecing together are the Art Corner cards. Quite a few of these cards show the Disney characters in artistic poses with a couple of them looking almost identical.
Card P11893 - NT18 December 2, 2007
Picked up a great concept card of early Tomorrowland. This concept drawing is almost identical to the Park on opening day as it includes the Circarama building, Clock of the World and the Hall of Chemistry. In the background we can also see the TWA Rocket. Only one more concept card to go and I'll have them all.
Card 00141 27023 - NT1846 November 29, 2007
Excluding the Fab Five (Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, and Pluto), I believe that Snow White appears on the most postcards. I've just added my seventh different Snow White card. Her and the Dwarfs have come along way since the late fifties.
Card No Number - NT586 November 17, 2007
I've been collecting postcards for many years, and I'm still amazed that you can find unused cards that are 40-50 years old. I mean, this was a product that was designed to be written-on and mailed. This Art Corner card is extra special (in mint condition) as the front of the card also featured a section to include a greeting.

Boy, it seems like years that I've been trying to track down this folder, but it was worth the wait. It contains 13 unusual views (all taken with a panoramic camera) of early Disneyland. There's no copyright on the folder, but I'd put the date as pre-1959 as the shots of Sleeping Beauty Castle and Tomorrowland do not include views of the Matterhorn. I usually don't include interior views of the folders, but these are too good to pass up. Check out the front view and rear views.
Card 0100-11913 - NT1639 November 1, 2007
Here's an unusual novelty card. This one features Mickey's 60th birthday with film star Mickey shaking hands with Park Ambassador Mickey. I'm pretty sure this was the only card to acknowledge a characters birthday.
September 28, 2007
Picked up another Disneyland postcard folder. This one contains 12 classic images from 1956 - One of the rare folders to actually contain a copyright stamp. (Unfortunatley, the Nickel Tour does not contain any info on these postcard folders.) If anyone has a method or a checklist for determining the age or chronilogical order of these folders, I'd love to hear from you.
Card PDL 20 - NT516 September 25, 2007
The Hallmark PDL series often featured unique views of Disneyland. But, here we get your basic Mark Twain and Cascade Peak shot. It's also not that great of a photograph. Most likely taken late on a very cloudy day. Perhaps the photographer should have waited a little longer for this dramatic shot.
Card PDL 1 - NT497 September 18, 2007
Speaking of a lot of cards about a single subject, I've just added the 33rd Sleeping Beauty Castle postcard. This is an absolutely beautiful shot. (Also part of the Hallmark PDL series). Most likely taken before the Park was open, and long before The Partners statue was added to the hub.
Card PDL 6 - NT502 September 10, 2007
Just added my 58th Jungle Cruise postcard. (The Jungle Cruise has the distinction of being the attraction with the most postcards.) This card also happens to be part of the PDL series from Hallmark.
Card E-3 - NT427 July 7, 2007
I love the description on the back of this card - "As nations contemplate a trip to the moon, DISNEYLAND'S TWA Rocket Ride in TOMORROWLAND shows how it might be done." TWA sponsored the Rocket to the Moon attraction from 1955 to 1961 when it was taken over by McDonnell Douglas who held the sponsorship until the attraction was closed in 1966.

Still plugging away at getting more Art Corner cards. The Art Corner was located in Tomorrowland where it stood for almost ten years. The original set of eight "Greetings From The Art Corner" cards sold for 45 cents!!
Card PDL 3 - NT499 June 7, 2007
Picked up another PDL (Pretty Darn Large or Postcard Disneyland - depends on who you ask). Here we see a nice view of a surrey and the motorized fire truck parked in front of City Hall on Main St.
Card C-4 - NT321 June 1, 2007
Here's another odd card. This one features beavers happily working on a dam in Natures Wonderland in Frontierland but the Mine Train is no where to be seen in this card.
